Graduate students usually write research papers related to their field. Such paper is known as a thesis that requires conducting a research in two ways. Firstly, students research to know what are the opinions of the other researchers about their topic. Secondly, they perform their own research by interviews and certain observations. Once the research is completed, students create an effective outline including the entire format of their thesis.
In order to learn writing an effective outline for your research paper, have a look at the following:
• First of all, plan out how to organize your entire idea to write a thesis. What should be included in each section? What to include and what to exclude? This practice helps you format your outline in a plausible manner and you can easily determine the format of effective writing.
• Use a single sentence to explain how you will introduce your paper. This should include use of quote, an anecdote or simply explaining your topic. Also, add another point for your introduction, mentioning your thesis statement or the point intended to prove in your paper.
• Now, present the historical information about your topic. List each major idea in just one line. Create a list of at least three sub-points under each major idea so that you will remember to include a whole paragraph under these sub-points. This section explains your topic along with the representation of other relevant researches to your subject.
• Mention your findings. State each major point and further list at least three sub-points under them. Begin with explaining how the research has been conducted, then describe the findings of your research. End the section by mentioning how the research proves your thesis statement.
• Conclude this outline by re-stating the main points that help prove your thesis. Add a sub-point in this section that describe the importance of your paper and what new insights it provides. End your outline by writing what parts of your topic require to be discussed further. Also, insert three sub-points that tell how the further research can intersect with your existing research.
Writing an effective thesis outline is a difficult task, as you have to format your entire thesis. Follow the above points to finish your project in an efficient manner.
